Validation

Every model here is scored against … real neurons from the Allen Cell Types database — whole-cell recordings from mouse and human cortex, at 34 °C. The same feature definitions are applied to a simulated trace and to the measured cells, so the comparison is like-for-like.

Shaded band: the interquartile range, where half of all real cells sit. Dashed markers are reference models not expected to match — the squid axon is a mollusc at 6.3 °C and is included so the comparison can demonstrate that rather than assert it.
